give them a lot of space.

To be a hiker is to accept a certain amount of risk. Every time we lace up our

boots and head away from the services of society, we take a little gamble.

And yet the freedom to expose ourselves to that danger is part of the draw,

especially since we know the wilderness is infinitely safer than the towns and

cities we leave behind to explore it. But as our next story shows, you never know what or who is coming down the trail.
