And so today we wanted to sort of take a break from the news.

We got a question in the Facebook group about sex trafficking, which had come up because

of this, I guess we would call it a conspiracy theory about the furniture company, Wayfair.

Wayfair's a, I only do stories with a coastal main angle.

And Wayfair's a big employer here in the Bangor area, but also maybe the center of a

sex trafficking ring.

So here's what happened.

And because I think that this gets into the combination of things that some things that

are not true, some things that are slightly true, and some things that are, it's complicated.

So here's what happened in July of this year, as in this month, a bunch of people on social

media started noticing that Wayfair, the furniture store with an extremely irritating jingle,

was advertising utility closets and a number of other items for extraordinarily high prices.

For instance, a set of pillows and shower curtains that were listed for $9,999.

And for instance, a utility closet that was priced at more than $10,000.

And so the conclusion to which social media users went to is immediately, and I'll quote
