And the temperature gauge and my old diesel truck reads negative 7.

I'm heading south like the wild geese. Texas to be exact. I've got a late season

mule deer hunt down there at the last the raw of the 2022 season. Hopefully I can get down there and find a nice buck and

have a good hunt and get home safely here. There's fog all around me so bad that it's actually building up ice on the windshield.

And it's cold enough that even with some decent, supposedly non-icing windshield wiper fluid in the truck.

It still tends to build up ice when I hit the wipers and blow some mist across my windshield.

So I have to avoid doing that.

Just taking it easy and trying to keep her between the lines.

This is kind of a cool hunt. It's a high desert hunt. I think in that Transpecois region in West Texas or a little bit south of there.

And although the genetics there don't typically produce the giant

frame 200 inch deer that every hunter dreams of when you think about mule

deer they've got some gnarly mass, non-typics, and they do

occasionally produce some really big deer. I think the average good mature

buck is probably a 160 to 170 inch mule

deer which you know if it's got the age class and smashed to give a character that's a

great buck. This go around I'm hunting with my gun works rifle and 7mm sawm short action

ultra magnum and I'm using Federal's Custom Shop ammunition. Now the Custom Shop there will do kind of like Custom

Shops do, right? They'll build you whatever load you want to use. Burger bullets, nozzler bullets, orange bullets,

whatever the case may be. In this on this particular hunt I'm running 155 grain federal terminal ascent bullets, one of the

all-time great all-around hunting bullets available today.

Rifles set up with a loophole VX6 3-18 scope on top of it.
