Good Friday morning. Welcome to Squawk on the Street. I'm Carl Kintanilla with Jim Kramer, David Faber at the New York Stock Exchange.

Stocks are looking to erase their losses for the week as hopes for a so-called

mini deal here, gain some traction. Trade reps meet again today, followed by a sit down in the Oval

this afternoon. Europe, meanwhile, is up on some new hopes for a Brexit deal. The pound is rallying.

Ten-year back to one-seven now as that three-month tenure curve does go positive. Our roadmap begins with

a trade boost. Stock stock set for a sharp rally at the open as optimism for a skinny trade deal

is growing. Plus oil prices are jumping this morning. This after Iran says two missiles struck one of

its tankers. And GMs urging the UAW to engage in around-the-clock bargaining to reach a deal and potentially end the more than three-week-long strike.

We're going to begin with U.S.-China trade talks, obviously trade rep Lightheiser, Treasury Secretary Manusian, greeting China's vice premier, who was that country's top negotiator a few moments ago.

The president and China's vice premier are set to meet this

afternoon. Yesterday, of course, the president was upbeat about the talks. Take a listen.

We're doing very well. We're having another one tomorrow. I'm meeting with the vice premier over at the

White House. And I think it's going really well, I will say. I think it's going

really well. So we had a very, very good negotiation with China. They'll be speaking a little bit

later, but they're basically wrapping it up and we're going to see them tomorrow right here.

Indeed, we will.

And most of the characterizations say these tariffs on Tuesday may not happen.

Right, and I think that the president has them where he wants them because he's taking

tariffs up over and over and over again.

So now he's in his position of saying, listen, there's another tariff, and we may not do it,
