As the post-NHL Trade Deadline period settles in, it's time to take stock of the Detroit Red Wings & further analyze the moves Steve Yzerman made in Hockeytown.
We open by discussing Detroit's two losses to the Islanders & Flyers, with not much more than a Moritz Seider and Dylan Larkin connection to speak of (4:10). Next, Yzerman's notes on tanking, trading Hronek, & more, as well as a quick look at where the Red Wings stand in the Connor Bedard draft lottery (9:25) before recognizing Sebastian Cossa's stellar play with the Toledo Walleye (12:00).
Next, we're joined by Shayna Goldman of The Athletic & Too Many Men to discuss the NHL Trade Deadline: grading the Hronek & Bertuzzi trades, giving Yzerman's trade deadline & the "Yzerplan" grades to date, as well as looks at deals & teams across the NHL (Chychrun, Jeannot, Meier, etc.). Also, a discussion on Detroit's pick strategy, using analytics in concert with video, & lots more (15:35)!
After quick note on Jakub Vrana (43:20), we restart of NHL Draft Prospect Profile series with Colby Barlow of the Owen Sound Attack & his scoring prowess (44:45).
Finally, we address rumors of Houston, Atlanta, Quebec City, & other cities potentially being part of an NHL expansion (55:25) before taking your questions during Overtime (1:05:20) - enjoy!
