It is Wednesday, July 30th, Trade Deadline Eve in Major League Baseball.

hoping that it's an active trade deadline here on out and not a trade deadline since we have our

live stream at 6 o'clock Eastern. We have the deadline itself on Thursday. We're going to go live

one hour before that, 5 Eastern, 2 Pacific. You can join us on our YouTube channel. Keep us company in case nothing happens, but we're going to talk about trade deadline trends over the years. I think that is going to make me more optimistic about what we're going to have to talk about tomorrow. And we've got a lot to talk about today because there are some injuries. There was a front office extension earlier in the week that we didn't get to yesterday.

So we're going to talk about the Jed Hoyer extension.

We're going to talk about both teams in Ohio, the Reds,

going to pushing themselves into the playoff picture at just the right time.

And a question from one of our loyal listeners wondering what Guardians fans really have to look forward to right now,

which is a fair question to ask because the wheels really have fallen off in Cleveland over the last few weeks.

Got a few trades that we ourselves would like to see trades we'd make if we were in the position to make them.

They extended Jed Hoyer on Monday. It's a multi-year deal, according to Sahad of Sharma from the Athletic. We don't know how many years into the future, but the contract was going to run out at the end of the season.

So getting that done prior to the trade deadline, maybe nudges Jed Hoyer to make moves that impact the club beyond this season.

Maybe it makes them even more aggressive at the deadline because he's building a team that he'll also be the president of baseball operations for

beyond the 2025 season. Patrick Mooney had a good recap of what has happened in the Hoyer era.

Jed Hoyer took over in that role from Theo Epstein after the 2020 season.

That includes the unpopular decisions of, you know, non-tendering Kyle Schwarber and not keeping Anthony

Rizzo and trading Javier Bayes, which did bring back Pete Crow Armstrong and then helping to

rebuild the farm system.
