Welcome to the Loeb Post Podcast, the first one I've done in a couple of weeks.

This is a sports podcast.

I sound like Brian Winhorse saying we talk about the NBA.

We do talk about the NBA.

So I'm going to try to keep this as sportsy as possible.

In my TV background, if you look carefully, I have a lot of books back there.

I'm trying to project that I'm a smart person.

I may be fake it, but I do have books.

One of them is Chicken Soup for the Sports Fans Soul.

And anyone who knows me would be very surprised that I own any of the Chicken Soup books because

I am not one for sentiment and sap and I hate romantic comedies.

Love actually is terrible.

I don't want to hear any rebuttal to that.

And even if I have a little sentimental bone in my body, I tend to hide it and suppress

it and try to act tough about it.

I have a chicken soup for the Sports Fans Soul and I display it up there because of one

chapter that starts on page 131 and it's called One Morning in May.

And it's written by an older woman now in her 70s who grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh

and was a really, really terrible athlete as a kid.

And the essay is about the dread she felt when the gym teacher would have them pick teams

because she was always picked last and she was always humiliated or often humiliated by
