Summary

On today's episode of UFC Unfiltered, Matt Serra and Jim Norton are joined by legendary comedian Carrot Top and UFC women's flyweight contender Tracy Cortez ahead of her fight on Saturday’s “Noche UFC” card in Las Vegas. Before any guests make their way to the show, Matt and Jim dish their thoughts on whether women's flyweight champion Alexa Grasso can win her second straight fight against former champion Valentina Shevchenko in Saturday's main event title fight rematch at T-Mobile Arena. Shortly after giving their picks for the welterweight co-main event between Kevin Holland and Jack Della Maddalena, Jim and Matt are joined by Carrot Top. Thirty-two years removed from his first big break as a comic, Carrot Top reflects on his journey that began at college campuses and has since led him to his current residency in Las Vegas for his unique style of prop comedy. Finally, the guys are joined by 14th-ranked women’s flyweight Tracy Cortez, who candidly opens up about how nice it is to get back into the cage after a 16-month layoff induced by an unfortunate string of injuries. A proud daughter of two Mexican parents who immigrated to the United States, Cortez explains why she feels a tremendous amount of pride representing her roots on Saturday's special card for Mexican Independence Day and would love nothing more than sharing the cage with Alexa Grasso in Mexico sometime in the future.

Tracy Cortez!

0:47.1

Welcome to UFC Unfiltered. Good show today. Tracy Cortez, I believe, is making her debut and Carrotop, who I haven't seen in a long time, who I do know, I like him a lot.

1:00.1

It's also coming on the show, making his first appearance. Now Matt, I was thinking of you today because I was, of course, no, I was not thinking, no, no, no, I know what you're saying, I'm the toilet.

1:14.1

I was, I was training and Mike had this young, I think he's a blue belt, they Martin training with me and it's just, I mean, I've never been more tired because this, this kid was so, his moving, he was so good and he was so hard to choke and he was so good at getting out of things and just, and again, he was only helping me defensively, he wasn't trying to submit me or would have choked me out.

1:37.1

But just, a guy like this, moving the way he move, it's probably the most exhausting thing I've ever done. And now I'm starting to learn the triangle.

1:48.1

Oh, the triangle is difficult to get in, or maybe this kid was just really hard to choke, but I mean, my leg, I just was leaving too much room on the side of the hand, I wasn't cinching my hip properly, I'm hoping all that comes with time.

2:03.1

Jimmy, I love that we're able to talk technique now.

2:06.1

Yeah, you're Jetsu.

2:08.1

You always got to remember, you commit to a move, but you don't force it. If the triangle's not working, trying to force it, you got to see why it's not working.

2:19.1

And sometimes the beautiful about your Jetsu is, you commit, but you don't force, you flow. I'm going for the arm lock out so hard to get, he's pulling it out. What do I do?

2:28.1

I'm going to go to the next move, the triangle, trying, I'm having a hard time finishing this. All right, if I can't finish it, let's go to Umu Plata.

2:35.1

So this, you're going to be learning the flow, and you know what, um, what they say from the, the last dragon, when you got that flow, you feel the energy when you got that flow, I think they said the glow.

2:50.1

I would, I would hope they said the glow. It would help Jimmy. I'll tell you, I'll tell you one, uh, I've learned to do from when a head norm choke isn't working when he begins turning out of it, uh, turning it into a kimura.

3:04.1

That I pulled off a few times as he turned a certain way and wound up on his side. I was able to, uh, you might have to teach me that one because it sounds, it sounds nice.

3:15.1

Jimmy, I'm just loving your on the, he was turning, it was very good. He was turning and I just, I was able to get over there as I lost the head norm choke. I was incompetent.

3:23.1

And then I wound up spinning it into a kimura. I'll show you how to do it. You'll be, please Jimmy. I got the white belt. I got the white belt. I want you to teach me.

3:32.1

Uh, Jimmy, you know why I want to thank this morning. You don't have to. I'm here every week, but, uh, my lovely wife went in with her, her, her a few of her cousins and her aunt to go see my buddy, Mark Consuelos and his wife.

3:47.1

Oh, yes.

3:48.1

And, uh, Mark, is it Mark and Kelly?

3:51.1

And Kelly, yeah, he's doing the morning show with his wife.
