On this show, there have been plenty of conversations about the city's housing crisis.

The dearth of affordable housing combined with rising costs can make keeping a roof over

your head a persistent challenge in this city.

Those conditions were all exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

And back in January of 2022, when a moratorium on evictions expired, things got even worse.

There are lots of different reasons someone might be evicted.

Sure, there's back to rent.

There are also landlords big and small who make other plans for their properties.

Maybe they want to sell the building, or maybe they just want a tenant willing to pay

So to help you understand where evictions are happening the most and why, my colleagues

in the WNYC and Gothamist Newsroom launched an eviction tracker.

The team built a tool using publicly available data of where people are being evicted from

and they made a map with some really interesting hotspots.
