Well it's not exactly a new initiative, well the first part of the story anyway, it's

an extension of something that already exists and the government has been helping first

time buyers through its mortgage guarantee for a little while now, in fact it was first

introduced back in March 2021 and what this scheme does is it gives banks confidence

to lend to first time buyers with just a 5% deposit because the government will act as

a guarantor in the background.
