It looks like the National Residents Landlords Association aren’t happy with Citizens Advice after they released a report stating that 2.6 million private renters have missed a rent payment or are expected to do so as a result of the pandemic.    However when you read further into the article, there were 25 people who said that they have missed a payment and 74 who said that they’re expecting to fall behind on payments. Once again, it shows that you shouldn’t believe the headlines.     We’d love to hear what you think of this week’s Property Podcast over on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. You might even have a topic you’d like us to cover in the future - if so, pop us a message on social and we’ll see what we can do.   Make sure you’ve liked and subscribed to our YouTube channel where we upload new content every week!  If that wasn’t enough, you can also join our friendly property community on the Property Hub forum. 0:48.9

NRLA Slam Citizens of Vice for misleading reports. The NRLA is the National Residents Landlords

0:55.5

Association. So it seems that someone's unhappy here, Rob. What happened? What's played out?

1:00.3

Well, the NRLA has beaten us to our normal trick trick normally we pick up on suspect surveys or dodgy headlines and like to debunk them but they've beaten us to it.

1:08.0

They're talking about a piece of research carried out by citizens advice that suggests that 2.6 million private renters have missed a

1:15.1

rent payment or expect to do so as a result of the pandemic. Sounds really bad

1:19.6

doesn't it? But then as they point out when you actually go into the survey, they've extrapolated this figure from 25 people

1:26.5

who said in a survey that they're behind on their rent and a further 74 who say they expect to be behind.

1:32.3

So I mean, I get it it you can't go around and

1:34.2

survey every person in the UK you have to extrapolate a bit but from 25 they got

1:38.8

to 2.6 million. Yeah that's quite a big number.
