Welcome to the Powell Movement.

0:14.1

I'm your host, Mike Powell, and my guest this week is a man of many talents.

0:19.1

He's had a 25-plus career in snowboarding and he is personally

0:23.3

responsible for helping usher in a new era of snowboard movie. But creating videos is not the only

0:29.5

thing Jesse Burtner is all about. While he'll be remembered for one footers and taking

0:34.1

snowboard flicks from gnarly to more creative, he's also had a long career

0:37.9

as a pro rider, then transitioned to a position behind a desk as the marketing director over at

0:43.7

LibTech. I've known of Jesse for a long time, but I don't know him at all. In the couple hours

0:48.8

we spent together, he seems like a really good dude, a guy I'd want to have beers with. We didn't have beers when he was

0:55.1

over for the interview, because if you listen to the podcast a lot, you know that I'm doing

0:59.0

sober January. I did this last year and I will say that it is so much easier in year two.

1:05.6

While no one likes a quitter, I think a month hiatus is amazing and if you haven't tried it,

1:10.6

I highly recommend it

1:11.8

for the dreams alone. I haven't remembered my dreams since last January, and man, I wake up every

1:18.0

morning with something new and crazy from my sleep. I've hung out with Shaq, I've driven supercars

1:23.6

on ferry boats, and watched my kids surf some monster waves. I've also lost almost 10 pounds without

1:29.2

trying. While all of that is awesome, I'm super excited to get back to normal in February. While it's

1:35.2

been easy to stop and everything, falling asleep has been way harder than it used to be, and that's

1:40.1

annoying. What's not annoying is Jesse, and before we get into the podcast, I need to ask you to do a few things for me.

1:47.1

First, I want you to subscribe to the podcast.
