Summary

Nick Goepper won three Olympic medals in slopestyle, then called it a career and retired. Fast forward a year, and Nick is out of retirement, and he has his goals set: rebranding himself and making the Olympic Halfpipe team. On the podcast, we talk about how hard that will be, all things Goepper, and then I do a mini-podcast with the man behind the scenes of Nick’s rebrand, controversial pro skier Steve Stepp. This one’s a little different; think two guys, one mic.

Nick Goepper Show Notes:

It's time to talk some shit on the Powell Movement.

0:13.5

Welcome to the Powell Movement.

0:17.6

I'm your host Mike Powell, and if you've been listening to my intros lately, you've been hearing about all of my bad luck.

0:23.9

For example, one week, both of my car batteries died at the same time.

0:27.9

So I had worked on both cars to get them back in driving condition, and then the next week, the car we just spent a grand on, is totaled.

0:35.6

Shit like that keeps happening.

0:37.0

And the weird thing is that

0:38.7

every bad thing happens after a really good thing happens or vice versa. And I was hoping that my

0:44.4

family would have one full week of nothing this week. So Ange came back from her Vegas vacation

0:49.6

and she had an amazing time at the Bravo Con. And then two days later, she takes Keaton to see Travis Scott,

0:56.1

a sick concert, and really life is good for us, until the weekend, when I test positive for

1:01.5

COVID. Ange also has it, and Keaton was spared the virus. The good news is that Anne's isn't

1:06.9

feeling any symptoms to go along with what she's dealing with. Me, on the other hand, I can't remember being this sick.

1:13.2

I had 102.5 fever, my whole body was hurting, I can't taste anything, and everything smells like

1:19.2

ammonia to me. It hasn't been fun, but it's almost comical, this string of bad luck.

1:24.2

I will say that while I thought 2022 was the worst year of my life,

1:28.2

2022 taught me that life comes at you sometimes, but 2023 is really the worst year of my life

1:33.9

by far. But enough about my problems, you hear about them way too much, and hopefully I'll have

1:39.8

nothing to report in the next intro. But who cares about next week when this week I'm going to be

1:44.4

doing things a little bit differently? I've interviewed six-time X-Games gold medalist and three-time

1:49.3

Olympic medalist Nick Gepper back in 2016. And recently, he retired from slope-style skiing
