Summary

Shane McConkey was the most influential skier or snowboarder of our time. Not only was he an incredible athlete, but he was also one of those innovators who was always tinkering with products to make the sport better and more fun. Between lobbying for mid-fats in the late 90s and pioneering rocker technology in the 2000s, there is not another athlete I can think of who has done more for progressing. On top of all that, Shane was a funny, laugh-out-loud comedian, and on the podcast this week, I take you through my trip to the McConkey PMS event and get some funny Shane stories from folks like Sherry McConkey, JT Holmes, Scott Gaffney, Mike Douglas, Chris Davenport and many more.

0:38.2	our time, but I really believe this. Now, you could say, Mike's just saying that as he was friends
0:43.4	with Shane. And really, I do think Shane like me, but like all of the athletes I've worked with
0:48.5	over the years, for the most part, they had to be nice to me as I was the one who did contracts

0:54.6	that does contracts is the last person that you want to piss off. So most athletes were nice to me,
0:59.4	and I consider them all friends. But as I think about it more and more, Shane really was the most
1:03.8	important athlete innovator of our time. I mean, he was all about fat skis at a time where some
1:08.6	people had the attitude, fat skis, fat tors, and they looked down on fat skis at a time where some people had the attitude fat skis fat tors and they
1:11.4	looked down on fat skis but Shane realized that there was a huge advantage to that and he was always
1:16.0	looking for what was next. Then he was able to show the world his reverse camber and reverse
1:20.5	side cut experiments in the spatula. And when Volant put that ski out, it was an instant cult classic
1:26.4	and if you skied it in powder,
1:28.1	you knew Shane was on to something. And then, when Shane came to K2, he had so many ideas in his head.
