Summary

Maude Raymond was born to be a champion athlete.  Her dad was a former motocross pro, her uncle part of the Canadian Ski Team, and her brother, one of the innovators when it comes to rails.  Maude's first chance at athletic greatness was on the Canadian National Diving Team, which she eventually quit to move to Whistler and pursue a skiing career.  Things happened fast, and Maude and I talk everything from being a woman in the industry to helicopter crashes, to over 20 knee surgeries, and so much more.  Don't miss this one, as Maude has a lot to say.

Ooh, baby, you're listening to the Powell Movement.

Welcome to the Powell Movement.

0:14.9

I'm your host, Mike Powell, and this week I have an interesting episode for you.

0:19.4

My guest is Mode Raymond, a really stylish, often injured skier who continues to make a name for herself with her brand, her image, her skiing, and just the way she lives her life.

0:30.3

The thing that was strange about this podcast, at least to me, is that while I did get the story I wanted to tell,

0:36.6

I felt like Mode was waiting for me to

0:38.4

dig up dirt on her or was waiting for me to make her sound bad, which is the last thing I want

0:42.9

to do with these podcasts. Sure, if there is any so-called dirt out there, yes, we are going to talk

0:48.7

about it as it's part of your life. And even if it's not positive, we still have to touch on it. But it's to get your side of the

0:55.4

story. And I'm not trying to be an asshole about things, although I do come off that way sometimes.

1:00.5

But with Mode, she didn't really have any of that. So there was nothing that she should have been

1:05.3

worried about. It should have been a normal conversation about her life and times. I mean,

1:10.0

I put in more research than normal for this

1:12.1

one, as I'm friends with Mode's brother, the always humble Frank Raymond, and I wanted to make this

1:16.8

one good. And it is. Mode's story is really incredible, and it's enjoyable to listen to, but it was a

1:22.8

different experience for me, and I will leave it at that. Before we jump into the podcast, I want to ask you to please tell a friend who'd like the

1:29.8

show about the show.

1:31.3

Most people don't know about it, and the best way to get the show to grow is to tell

1:35.0

someone or a large group about it.

1:37.3

I also want to ask you to follow me on Instagram at the Powell Movement, and finally, please

1:41.6

support my amazing sponsors who make this thing happen. They are Stanley,

1:45.9

the 10-barrel brewery, Peter Glenn Ski and Wiedmaps. Now, it's time to chat with Mode Raymond.
