What's going on golf addict, David Barnett here from the tour junkies. I'm going to break down TPC sawgrass, the host site of the players championship.

0:17.0

And everything you need to know in about 12 minutes or less for DFS or betting. And I want to start with some very telling quotes from some players in years past.

0:27.0

And that'll kind of set the table for what we want to, you know, how we want to handicap this event. So let's start there and look at some quotes from recent recent history here.

0:36.0

I'm going to start off with this one from Rory McElroy in 2019 says, yeah, the course was softer, including the fairways where I hit drivers on hold today that I would never have hit driver the last few years. So just to be a little more aggressive, get a shorter club in the hand.

0:49.0

And even when you are aggressive and you miss us a touch easier to get yourself back into position.

0:54.0

The rough isn't as long or as gnarly, you're running into that pine straw and you still have some sort of a shot and some control over your ball. And then when you miss the greens, you're not having to contend with that bermuda.

1:04.0

You're not having to guess how it's going to come out or whatever. So it lends itself to more aggressive play. I don't know if the course is easier or not, but because I think it's playing longer and I think it should all even out.

1:15.0

I definitely like the golf course the way it is in March. Now some context of this first before we go back and look at some other quotes.

1:22.0

You got to remember the players was moved from May back to March back in 2019. So we've seen two years and one round if you count 2020.

1:30.0

We've seen two years of play now in March and the difference is the overseeded fairways and rough. So now there's rye grass. There's fescue that's been overseeded to the bermuda.

1:40.0

It's not just that firm and fast bermuda that we saw all May. So Rory's referencing now the course is going to play a little bit longer because it's not as firm and fast.

1:48.0

And the lie is is not it's a little more predictable probably coming out of the overseeded rough.

1:54.0

You don't have the bermuda where the ball could settle at the bottom or it may sit up on top. You may catch a fire. You may not.

1:59.0

So that's very that's a very important thing to take note of as we're handicap in this event. Let's look at a couple of other quotes here.

2:06.0

Also from 2019. Callumora Cowell said the rough is up. It's really thick. It's sticky almost in a sense where you landed in the rough. It's not going to come out.

2:14.0

So you got to keep the ball within the fairway. And I'm looking to do that this week as well.

2:18.0

Justin Thomas last year who's your winner says I feel like it's not like a lot of courses where you can.

2:23.0

Even if you're playing bad, you can just kind of skank it around here and hit on one side.

2:27.0

I know if I'm going to miss the fairway, I have to at least hit it over here and get it on this part of the green.

2:32.0

It doesn't play like that. You really have to step up on each tee and just hit golf shot. Hit the golf shot that it requires.

2:38.0

So I think all in all what this is saying is, you know, is it.

2:42.0

Is it still a premium at TPC saw grass to hit it in the fairway? Absolutely. It is. It's going to help.
