Back in 2021, I brought you the story of Toya Courtingly, a young woman who was killed on a beach in Queensland, Australia.

Her death was a violent one, with Toya having been stabbed multiple times, wounds all over her body.

Her alleged killer was an older man named Rajvinder Singh, who had no prior connection to Toya.

A geriatric nurse who was married with children, Singh was seen in the area of the crime the day that Toya was killed.

That evening he purchased a plane ticket and fled the region, heading back to

his native India. In November 22, more than four years after the crime, Rajvinder Singh

was arrested in New Delhi, India, having been hiding out with a religious group in the region

for a few years. Afterward, he was extradited back to Australia to stand trial for Toya's killing, a process

that took some time.

It wasn't until just recently that Rajvinder Singh stood trial for Toya's death, and the results

were unexpected to say the least. Ahead of his trial, which began in February 2025, Rajvinder Singh pleaded not guilty.

In laying out their case, prosecutors presented a timeline of events from the afternoon of October 21st, 2018,

the day in which Toy accordingly was killed.

That afternoon, she had arrived at Wangetty Beach, just north of Cairns for a walk with her dog.

While there, prosecutors

claim she had been attacked, her body buried in a shallow grave on the beach and her dog tied
