Well, the thing about Bedford is I did live there, but as a border, I'd boarded there.

So Bedford is this weird place which I lived in, but I didn't live in.

I've never felt part of.

And so it's this in-between.

It's too big to be a normal, you know, a quaint market town.

It's too small to be a city.

You're glad it's not Luton.

But what I remember is there was nothing to do.

And then when we were old enough to lie about our age successfully in pubs

there was something to do and that the regatta I've never felt so alienated from an event

than the Bedford regatta to the point where I avoided one by watching live aid and I think

being involved with one of the most important

cultural events of the 80s was probably a win for me. Anyway, Bedford, Nedford indeed.
