We discuss the suggestions that De Zerbi was overwhelmingly the club’s number one choice for the position, and the attraction to the Italian was based on his prior Premier League experience, his tactical acumen and the his reputation for playing attacking football. We also give our feeling to the news that De Zerbi does not have a relegation clause in his Tottenham contract and is understood to be fully committed to rebuilding Tottenham and views the position as long term project regardless of which division they are playing in. We also address the divide the appointment has caused across the fan-base, due to De Zerbi's backing of Mason Greenwood at Marseille, and furthermore with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust having confirmed they oppose his appointment following member complaints, with certain fans threatening to boycott fixtures.
