Summary

This is a national catastrophe we can no longer ignore. We've just had a whole load of new evidence about just how disastrous the Brexit deal negotiated by Boris Johnson really is. But there's a conspiracy of silence over it - from the Tories to Labour, in newspapers, the BBC. That has to change. So how do we talk about fixing this disaster without a new culture war?

We need to talk about the Toys Brexit deal because it's a disaster and I mean a total

0:05.9

catastrophe and whether we talk about it or not it will keep crippling our economy and our future.

0:13.3

Now there is a conspiracy of silence over the Toys Brexit deal for very obvious reasons.

0:19.6

Now the Conservatives clearly don't want to talk about it, it's their mess,

0:23.6

they did this, they negotiated this particular deal and they're defending it to the Hill,

0:28.3

it's an existential issue for the modern Conservative Party. Now they're with the Labour Party and

isn't willing to talk about it, not just because those right-wing newspapers helped frame the

1:08.4

political coverage of the BBC but because internally there has been a decision that it is a

responsibility of the BBC not to be seen to have a pro-remain bias. Now allegations were made against

1:22.8

Robbie Gibb who used to work for the Tories and then worked for the BBC in a sceney position and

1:28.8

then became a spin doctor for Theresa May and then came back to the BBC and Emily Maith List,

1:35.8

the former News Knight presenter, suggested that he was pushing in a generalised by sympathetic to

the government within the BBC. Look, the net result is silence largely over this issue with notable

1:48.7

exceptions. Also to be honest, look, those are on the left because we're not. We weren't

1:53.1

frankly comfortable to say the least. With the fact that elements of the Remain campaign clearly

1:58.8

used it as a means to attack the left-wing leadership under Jeremy Corbyn of the Labour Party,

which has just happened, glory to Pierre-O, he was a Blaireite, MP put it to me that her colleagues,
