DOJ's case against Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm.

0:10.7

The latest development here was a letter filed recently from Roman's defense attorneys

0:15.9

saying recent disclosures in another similar case have raised concerns that prosecutors misled the judge

0:23.4

or were otherwise playing fast and loose. Break this down for all of us, non-lawyer minds.

0:33.5

What does this mean?

0:35.2

Okay. So I will just say as somebody who has been both a federal

0:39.4

prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney, I spend most, I've been spending my time over the last

0:45.1

decade fighting the government and making similar allegations. You're at a tremendous disadvantage

0:50.9

when you're in the defense side. I mean, the government usually has all the

0:54.3

cards and the prosecutors, you know, have a lot of advantages. One of the things that the defense

1:01.0

has, of course, is the ability to raise questions and lodge issues. And it's, I'd say, not surprising

1:07.2

that the defense team here has very, some very capable, well known, I would say

1:14.1

defense counsel, is trying to challenge disclosures made by the government. It's very important

1:20.2

on the defense side to knock the prosecution down a pig, because in court, the judge assumes

1:27.4

or presumes that the prosecution has their stuff

1:31.2

together and they know what they're doing and they what they're they're on the side of truth justice

1:36.0

in the american way and so it's always important to do that and i think the defense is usually in

1:42.6

the strongest position to do that when they're talking about disclosures and evidence that's been with help and things like that.

1:50.0

So that's often a defense motion you see in well litigated cases.

1:58.0

Okay, so business as usual, right? Right.

2:01.0

We're going to hear from the defense as much as I'm sure is possible before the trial begins in July.

2:10.7

Now, my question here for you is, you know, a lot of people in the industry are watching this trial closely.
