We could read the big book unsupervised in those days and also we got sober on

reading the whole book. We didn't get this 164 pages stuff and I got sober in 1979. The third edition of the big book of Alcoholics

Anonymous came out in 1978 and I didn't have anybody ever tell me that their second edition was better than my third edition.

people that taught me about Alcoholics anonymous had read the new book were familiar with all of it so that they could meet me where I was.

So for those of you who don't know, this is the fourth edition of the book, Alcoholics Anonymous.

And whenever I have the privilege of talking to somebody, I say, read Dr. Bob's nightmare. Pay really close attention the last few pages because you'll know why it is that we're all excited to see you.
