is serving with humility now over the the short period of time that I've been in Alcoholics Anonymous, I've come to

realize that there are a couple of things that you draw minimal attraction towards when you speak

about them. They normally, the higher power, or God as we may recognize him in our lives,

definitely money, and thirdly service.

So I'm encouraged to see the turnout this morning, and I thank you for being present.

You know, again, since coming into the fellowship, I've had to learn some lessons.

Very often I've taken on a service position

and I think of positions back in my group,

treasurer, secretary, and back in those early days,

they were actually ego strokes for me.

I had a measure of importance suddenly within this fellowship.

And I've come to learn the longer that I stick around you,

that service is definitely not designed to stroke me up

or to make me feel better about myself.

It's actually gratitude in action.

You know, I've sat in many meetings over the years and I've heard these expressions of gratitude.

And then I've walked outside after the meeting to hear the very same person complaining or contradicting something

that was said or done in the meeting. And my sponsors, when I was guilty of doing this,

said to me, what did you do to change it? If the meeting was a bad meeting, what did you do to change
