Summary

Renee S sent me this recording about an hour before I started putting today's ep. together, she even included the description below, talk about making it easy for me. Judy S from Redondo Beach California was 45 years sober in Alcoholics Anonymous when she spoke on the topic of Being Involved at Rocket Recovery, a New Zealand-based Al-Anon speaker meeting, in March of 2023. It’s a great speak as it’s all about recovery and what she’s doing today to stay spiritually, mentally and physically sober after all these years. amazing international meeting of people who I know are committed to working the 12 steps

action of working in the steps of the program and taking suggestions from people that are

in meetings and following spiritual principles in my life, all really have to do with being

involved.

I am going to tell you a little bit about my tragically traumatic childhood and true and a little

1:26.2

bit about my drinking, but most of my life now, I've been sober.

1:32.1

So I really want to focus a lot on how the program has transformed my life and I went

1:49.8

of alcoholics anonymous that gave me a life and I joined alcoholics anonymous, well I've

1:57.0

been sober since July 13th, 1977, it took me about a year to really get admitted I was

2:09.0

an alcoholic and to really get serious about being involved in my own sobriety. So I'm trying

2:17.1

to like put that theme in. Anyway, I grew up in Minnesota and it's very cold there and most

everybody in our neighborhood and everybody I knew was either Norwegian, Swedish or Danish

2:33.6

and nobody ever in that culture talks about feelings and everybody just presents an outside image of

what they want other people to think their lives are like and then you just suck it up if something
