I got about 15 years and a little bit of experience in this program.

And for the first five years, it's all I wanted to do was steps one, two, and three.

I didn't want to do no other rest of this.

So I should have a pretty good work and knowledge of it.

But you can believe that whatever comes out of here is not rehearsed today.

I managed to share last night at a step one table at the Alcatan and powerlessness to me was pretty well defined

before I ever got to this program I was 17 years old sitting in a jail cell, a maximum security cell,

with nothing to read but the Bible for 78 days.

And I read it. There was nothing else to do.

I read it through once completely and halfway through the second time, and I can't tell you

where they're at today, but there was two verses that struck terror in my heart.

One verse said, without God, there is no strength.

And the other one said,

be assured that a drunkard shall not find the kingdom of God.

And that told me that if I died drunk, there was no hope for me.

I knew I was weak.

I knew I was godless.
