| 0:00.0 | Welcome everyone to the score fantasy football podcast. I'm your host, Justin Boone, the lead fantasy analyst at The Score. |
| 0:20.4 | Thank you so much for spending some time with us today. |
| 0:22.8 | I do fear that it's going to be a longer episode than usual because we've got a lot of important injuries to cover. And then once we get through them all, we'll talk about the top waiverware ads heading into week six. But let's not waste a second here. Let's get right into it. and we will start with the injury roundup and a bunch of players at every position that I want to hit. |
| 0:39.0 | We will begin at quarterback with Anthony Richardson. Looks like he's going to miss a chunk of time. The Colts rookie suffered a grade 3 AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. That's according to Ian Rappaport. And based on what I've seen, that could keep him on the sidelines maybe four to six weeks, maybe even longer if he needs surgery. And the Colts do have a week 11 by. So there's a strong chance that we're not going to see Richardson until week 12. But he is seeking a second, maybe even a third opinion, according to Jeremy Fowler. Either way, fantasy managers, you got to prepare to be without that star rookie for the next few weeks at least. And that means Gardner Minchu is going to be starting in Indy. And Minchew got the knot a couple weeks ago when Richardson was in concussion protocol. And he knows the offense very well from his time in Philly with Shane Steichen. So Minchew can keep this offense moving. I'm not really downgrading the skill position guys that much. |
| 1:27.7 | And right away, Minchu is going to get an interesting matchup because he's going against |
| 1:31.5 | his old club the Jags. |
| 1:33.1 | So Minchu will be a streaming option in that one, albeit with quite a bit of risk because |
| 1:37.4 | we know he does come with a very low floor. |
| 1:40.2 | Sometimes things can bottom out for him, but he's a low end QB2 for fantasy and he's going to be that way most weeks, I think, while Richardson is out. |
| 1:48.1 | Daniel Jones, he's been taking just a beating behind that short-handed Giants offensive line and finally caught up with him on Sunday. |
| 1:54.8 | He got injured. |
| 1:55.5 | He hurt his neck. |
| 1:56.4 | And now the initial reports are that he avoided a major injury, which is obviously good. He dealt with neck issues in the past. We don't want to see this be something serious. And so far, they haven't even ruled him out for week six. They're playing the bills on Sunday night next week. And Brian Davel said that he's optimistic that Jones is going to play. He talked to him and got a vibe for how he's feeling on Monday. And I'm not really sure that Jones will be out there. |
| 2:17.7 | I don't want to go that far yet. But at one point, it also seemed like Tyrod Taylor got hurt in Sunday's game. So we thought maybe the Giants were going to be down two quarterbacks. But Davel said today that Tyrod just got the wind knocked out of him. So if Jones can't go, Tyrod would be the one taking on his old club, the bills, but let's face it. |
| 2:34.9 | I mean, you're not starting Jones or Tyrod would be the one taking on his old club, the bills. |
| 2:37.6 | But let's face it, I mean, you're not starting Jones or Tyrod in this matchup and just given the state of that Giants offense. |
| 2:39.9 | It is a disaster and it is best to avoid it for fantasy if you can. |
| 2:43.7 | They're not fun games to watch. |
| 2:45.2 | So Saquan and Waller might be the only two fantasy plays in that offense. |
| 2:48.9 | And even their ceilings are lowered with the current state of affairs in new york and we're going to make sure that sayquan can even go this week because he's still trying to come back from that high ankle sprain some other quick updates to mention at quarterback matthew stafford he limped off late but it didn't seem like anything serious i don't even think the trainers really looked at him plus he often plays through injuries so I'm not really concerned about him unless we hear something more. Joe Burrow, he didn't aggravate the calf injury. Don't panic that I'm bringing him up here. But he did look a little better this week. And he even scrambled a bit and he looked kind of spry when he was doing it. So that's a very good sign for him and for that Bengals offense. Now they just need T. Higgins back and healthy. And that could happen this week or at worst after since he's week seven by. And then Deshawn Watson, who was out the last time we saw the Browns before their week five by, he wasn't out there for Monday practice. And Kevin Stefansky, he said that Watson will be out there as soon as he's ready and functionally ready. Whatever that means, it doesn't sound great. |
| 3:42.4 | But Adam Schaefter did say today that he'd be surprised if Watson doesn't play this week. |
| 3:46.2 | So we'll have to monitor that one. |
