Summary

One of the most common questions that I get in my DMs is about how I keep track of everything. Between three kids, my businesses, my marriage, and everything in between, I’ve had to set up systems in my life that keep me organized and support the long-term vision that I have for my life.

I’m breaking down how I manage our family calendar, keep my household in order, and really flex that muscle of asking for and receiving help. I also highlight my strategy for raising radically responsible kids and making sure that they become self-sufficient adults down the line.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Our Sunday night ritual as a family for setting up our weekly schedules and to-do lists
  • How I keep our home decluttered and tidy without getting overwhelmed
  • Questions to ask yourself to see where you need more support in your life
  • Why it’s so important to give your kids ownership over certain tasks
  • Tools that give you insight into your finances on a daily basis

So today I'm focusing on a topic that I'm sure we hear so many moms talk about balancing it all from my business, my real estate investments, school, sports, activities, church, marriage, friends,

1:39.3

vacation, me time. It can be exhausting when I listed out like that, right? Just like even saying that list. I'm like I'm exhausted. But it doesn't have to be there could be so much joy in all of it. But how do I keep track of everything? And what am I doing that's keeping me from losing my sanity. And allowing me to sleep.

1:58.7

So let's give it up for all the moms here for a moment, mothers are spending more time in the workforce than in the past, but also more time on child care. So today they work an average of 25 hours a week on paid work up from nine hours in 1965. And at the same time they spend 14 hours a week on child care.

2:23.7

Up from 10 hours a week in 1965. I know it seems like these are like old stats like we need to like do a new mother study or something. But it's what we had one in four mothers are raising their children on their own about nine million mothers are living with a child younger than 18 without a spouser partner.

2:42.7

You might be one listening in right now you might would you for sure no one you might have been raised by one like me right I was raised by a single mom and she raised me and my little brother and she worked her to push you off most Americans say women face a lot of pressure to be involved mothers.

2:59.7

Even in an era where women make up nearly half of the US workforce and men are more involved in housework and child care than in the past. The public still sees vastly different pressure points for women and men in today society.

3:16.7

So roughly eight and ten adults say women face a lot of pressure to be an involved parent which is a significantly smaller share which is 49% they say about men.

3:27.7

So in contrast most adults say men face a lot of pressure to support their family financially while only 40% say women face the type of pressure.

3:38.7

Some interesting stats to know and this whole show on mommy millionaire this is culture I just talked about right but what I want mommy millionaire to be is a movement of counter culture it's going against the grain.

3:51.7

It's saying something new we're saying hey moms can be breadwinners dads can do whatever the heck they want to do they don't have to bring home the bacon anymore they can follow their gifts and talents and live out a happy joyous life and raise amazing kids.

4:07.7

So cool right that is the movement we're getting behind if you're into that you got a message me on instagram and tell me counter culture if you're going to be a part of this movement.

4:17.7

So how do I get it all done I don't like the word balance because like I've said in previous episodes I work in seasons but you've got to be organized and I call I call the craft household organized chaos.

4:36.7

Okay organized chaos but being organized gives me that mental space to stress be gone right and to just be present it's like hey I'm working what's in my calendar girl over here.

4:50.7

So number one have a family calendar in a visible space when you have little it's really helpful I used to have a big huge dry erase board and everybody knew the schedule.

5:01.7

And it's really helpful for the kids because they like the routine and they like this certainty of knowing what's next.

5:07.7

But my kids are all at an age now where they're all in school we have twelve ten and eight and two of my oldest ones have phones Channing has an iPad that he gets to you sometimes.

5:19.7

But we all share calendars okay so everything is very tech based in what we're doing now but it's very visible and you can Channing can even go into his iPad if he wonders okay what day is my football practice if he forgets he's going to go on to his calendar and he gets to see it there.
