Summary

The list of the top ten things to see in Paris, according to the city's Official Visitors Bureau, is fantastic…. but it's a bit obvious. The Louvre, the Opera Garnier etc etc. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sure, it's an iconic list of things to see. But for your second trip to Paris (or maybe your third), here are some real pearls that you should look for instead.

Today's guest: Amber Minogue, whose new theatre show Becoming Mamam is drawing crowds each week - and restarts in September 2018.

Here's the basic list of what we talk about, in case you want to find some of these treasures yourself.

Earful Tower listeners, it's another Monday in Paris. It is a great day. I'm in a great mood. A lot

0:04.5

has been happening this week, but especially today. Let me just tell you what I've been up to today

0:09.2

on this wonderful Monday in Paris. I woke up early, headed to the left bank, met Stephen Clark,

0:15.0

one of my favorite authors about France and Paris. We did a walk show on the left bank. We talked about the French Revolution

0:21.4

and what went wrong. I'll tell you what else we did. We went and looked at Napoleon's hat

0:25.8

in the cafe ProCoup. Really fun. A bit behind the scenes, we went in. They said, yeah, we've stopped

0:32.8

having the hat at the front. Too many people coming in and looking at it. I said, look,

0:35.7

you're talking to Stephen Clark. He's a world famous author. And they said, by God, come on upstairs. So we went

0:41.2

and checked that out, did a little video there. And then after that, I went to the, to the

0:46.1

town hall for the officers of the mayor of the marais, who I happened to meet really recently

0:52.0

on the street and told him about my walk shows.

0:54.6

He goes, hey, I want to do a walk show.

0:56.7

This is the new mayor of the mare.

0:58.4

You might remember I've had the old mayor of the mare on the show before.

1:01.2

This is a new guy.

1:02.1

He speaks excellent English.

1:03.5

He went to Harvard Business School in America.

1:05.9

And, well, the most exciting bit of it all besides the walk show is he said you know yeah i think i'll be

1:11.3

able to get an extra guest along for our walk show when i said who he said mayor and hidalgo so you

1:18.8

guys uh yeah i could hear that collective gasp of breath from you guys who've been listening

1:23.8

from season one when i used to joke about getting Mayor Andidalgo on the show.

1:28.0

So let's see if that comes to fruition, that's going to be rather exciting indeed.
