Good morning today is Thursday March 7th, 2019. My name is Eduardo Isenti and these are Puerto Rico's top news for today.

So we start off with a very good news. Puerto Rico has less HIV cases than 10 years ago.

So the Department of Health released some statistics that say that the amount of cases reported year over

year or year by year has diminished in 44% over the past decade which is like I

said some really good news. We still have about 500 cases reported yearly and the

Department of Health estimates that there are about a thousand nine hundred

people who live in the island who have the virus but don't know it.

So there's still work to be done, but a forty-four percent reduction over a ten-year period

is great.

And even more when you look at US statistics which say that in the US cases have remained

stable over the past ten years, so they have made no progress in lowering the amount of cases

per year reported.

We move on to, we talked about yesterday

about the VHKSN Kulevras problem with the supply boats.

It turns out the governor yesterday acted

and asked the National Guard to send help the National Guard sent

two boats with supplies.

When they got to Villegas, the mayor of Villegas was pretty much pissed, I would say, and

he was saying that it was a joke that they sent these two National Guard boats that it

was just like a publicity stunt because

these boats were too small to carry meaningful supplies. They couldn't even carry a tanker

with with Theo which is one of the main needs of the island. And so he was just pissed and
