And this is the Daily Freedom Top News for Monday, January 23rd.

Here are today's headlines.

It is January, after an election, which means that the House is busy determining committee

assignments.

Over the weekend, the Democrat House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, asked that both

Democrat representatives Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell of California be added to the Intelligence

Committee.

Both Schiff and Swalwell have previously served on the Intelligence Committee.

Jeffries says they are qualified for the position and should continue their service.

But Republicans don't want them on the committee.

And because of special rules associated with the Intelligence Committee, House Speaker

Kevin McCarthy has the power to decline members' request to sit on that specific committee.

Punch-Bull News reported that McCarthy says he intends to deny Schiff and Swalwell seats

on the Intelligence Committee.

According to Fox News, McCarthy says he will deny the request because Swalwell can't

get a security clearance in the private sector, adding that I'm not going to give him

a government security clearance.

And when it comes to Schiff, McCarthy says that he has lied too many times to the American

public.

Schiff was heavily involved as the lead house manager in President Trump's first impeachment

trial.
