Blue Liar. Welcome back. It's the Big Blue Banter New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:11.5

Join as always my co-ist Nick Palado. Today, we're here to do a little more season preview for the New York Giants coming up in 2023.

And you've heard it all off season, but you've heard, well, don't be excited about the Giants. They, you know, won nine games last year, but it's because they faced an easy schedule, because they face some bad quarterbacks. But I feel like all of that doesn't account or doesn't it take into account, I should say. Some of the things that went wrong for the Giants last year, for example, their number one playmaker, expected playmaker

0:39.3

going into the season, Cadarious Tony, was a net zero. Their number two, essentially I would say,

0:44.3

Kenny Gallaudet, was a net zero, you know, by default. They had injuries at crazy times. I looked

0:51.1

at the lineup that they went into that Dallas Thanksgiving game with Nick.

0:54.8

It was despicably bad. I mean, Tyree Phillips was starting right tackle. Jack Anderson was

1:00.2

starting at left guard. Gates coming off that injury was starting at center. They had slew of injuries.

1:05.5

Dori was out. One of the edges was out. I forgot who I think it was Aziz, just as a slew of injuries in that game.

1:12.8

So they dealt with some bad injuries last year, one, you know,

1:15.5

and one specific group of their team that we're going to talk about today,

1:19.4

where they really hit injuries last year.

1:21.5

And if you looked at the injury port already, Nick, for week one,

1:24.6

it's a, I took a breath of fresh air after.

1:26.6

I can't remember a giant season where

1:28.4

week one it looked like that. No offense to Javaris Owens of the world. Like God, God bless. I hope he

1:33.9

gets healthy soon. But not a single starter on that list. And in my opinion, not a single important

1:39.7

role player was on that injury point. I can't remember going into a week one like that forever.

1:43.2

So there's a lot of reasons I think to be excited about the Giants in 2023. I think there's a lot of reason for your expectations to be optimistic and hopeful that they can take that next step and that, you know, not, you know, even with a more difficult schedule, quote unquote, something that can be in a lot of ways, fool's goal, right? A difficult schedule now that looks like a difficult schedule now may not be a difficult schedule in week six, in week four, and week eight. So Nick and I are going to dive into our five biggest reasons for having so much optimism about the Giants heading into this 2020 season, Nick, and let's start us off. We're going to do it this way going from one to five. So the reason we're most excited for first and then the one and then in, in, in order two, three, four, five. So Nick, start us off with the reason we're most excited about the giants heading into 2023. So Dan, I'm not 100% certain if this is the reason we're most excited, but it's one talking point that I don't

2:34.8

feel like we're discussing enough that can realistically manifest. And that's why we have it won. And that is

2:39.7

the new and improved defensive front. And what that's going to mean in terms of applying

2:44.9

pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Because not only do you have Kvon Tibido entering his second
