I'm Ryan Bergara. I'm Brian Morin. And for this episode, we're doing something a little bit different in that we're not covering a single attraction,

but rather this will be a news roundup of sorts in which we break down the details and timeline

of all the exciting things that they announced at D23 this past weekend.

And it was a lot.

So buckle up folks.

And at the end of this episode, we're also going to reveal our top five announcements from the D23 Expo

in a style that will be very familiar to those

of you who were fans of our previous endeavor, the saddest podcast on Earth, where we did aggregate

top five rankings in which we combined Byron and I's top five into one singular list.

We'll go over how we do that at the end of the episode.

But like I said, if you used to watch that show, it'll be very familiar.

And since this is a theme park podcast, uh, the D23 Expo covers all things Disney. We are simply

going to talk about everything that relates to these. Good point. Horizons. That was the name of

their park panel this year, the big showcase. And to that degree,

I guess we're going to jump into some brief history here. It's more like a series of bullet points I put together for context for those who are unfamiliar with what D23 is. I imagine if

they clicked on this video, they probably know what it is. They probably have a good idea. For those

unfamiliar that are just excited about these upcoming Disney attractions, D23 is the name for Disney's official fan club. It was founded in 2009 by Bob Iger. The name is derived from the year 1923, being the year that the Walt Disney company was founded. There are different membership tiers that exist in the D23 fandom. I will note that there

is a free membership, but the other ones, I believe you get certain perks. More relevant to this

episode, D23 runs an expo once every two years, as in their main expo. The first one of these was held on September 10th

through the 13th of 2009 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Every D23 Expo has been held there since.
