Hey everybody. So I had a normally scheduled podcast today, but that's not going to be happening.

It was an interview with Kate Manser, and the topic was about understanding mortality and how that might direct you to live better on a daily basis and

we're still definitely going to upload that episode in the future but last night there was a shooting at a nightclub in Thousand Oaks and it was College

Night. I went to school at Cal Lutheran University for undergrad which is the school that

had the College Night at borderline nightclub and they do that every

week and this if this was in 2010 it would have been all of my friends that died

and so this is hitting really close to home I still live in the county and

I'm exhausted and frustrated and pissed off about it. I realize that every school I've been to since I've been a teenager has had a shooting or near miss.

I went to graduate school at UCSB and obviously there was the big mass shooting there in Ilevista and my high

school last year didn't have a shooting but had a near miss where they caught somebody

with plans to do a shooting.

So it's crazy.

It's crazy.

So I just wanted to touch base with you guys

and let you know what was going on.

If this is affecting you in any way, my heart goes out to you as well and just know that it's totally normal to feel any number of ways about this, scared, overwhelmed, numb, unsurprised, exhausted, angry, you know, these are all normal things to feel about this.

This is going to hit everybody in different ways.

And, you know, it's one of many... hit everybody in different ways.

And it's one of many, many events that have happened.

And I know it's sort of coming from a place of privilege

to say that I wish people could just live their lives without being in fear of being shot.

You know, I know that being in California, in America, we have a whole lot less to worry about in that regard than many other places in the world,
