I'm Scott Feinberg, executive editor of our awards coverage, and it's been my privilege and pleasure to moderate this annual gathering since 2014.

Why do we do this?

Because eight times a week simultaneously in some 41 theaters packed between

7th and 8th avenues and 41st and 54th streets in Midtown Manhattan, magic happens.

And like a little kid at a magic show, I and so many of our readers and listeners want to

try to better understand how it all works.

Today, I'm so fortunate to be joined by six of the most gifted magicians of the

2023-24 Broadway season, each of whom will be going to the 77th Tony Awards on June 16th

as a nominee for an outstanding performance.

They are Rachel McAdams, the Best Actress in a Play nominee for Mary Jane, which is playing at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater on 47th. This is her first nomination. Thank you for being here. Congratulations.

Kelly O'Hara, best actress and a musical nominee for Days of Wine and Roses, which played at Studio 54 on 54th. This is her eighth nomination. She won for the King and I in 2015. Thank you, Kelly,

for second or third time back on the roundtail. Great to have you. Leslie Odom Jr., best actor and a

play nominee for Pearly Victorious, a non-Confederate romp through the Cotton Patch,

which played at the music box theater on 45th. This is his second acting nomination. He
