You know what? I'll be really interested in hearing what Tony Blair has to say when he's in the dock at the Hague being prosecuted for his role in the illegal war in Iraq.

But he's made what's been described as an intervention in politics, which the media is predictably swooning over.

I'm going to try and engage with this seriously because it gives us an insight into what our elites are thinking

and indeed planning and because it helps us understand why we're heading for catastrophe,

which I'm afraid to say we are. The former British Prime Minister released this statement

through his Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, with just knowing that both that organisation

and previously Tony Blair Associates have been funded by some pretty

unpleasant dictatorships. That includes the dictatorship of Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia, each gave

his organisations millions. Also, he had a paid advisory role for the regime of United Arab Emirates,

also Azerbaijan. Now, in this essay, Blair says that the Labour Party is playing

with fire, both with its future and that of the country. And you know what? On that, I agree with him.

Not for the same reasons. He also says Labor doesn't have a worked out, coherent plan for the

country in a fast-changing world. I agree with that as well. Again, not the same reasons.

He also notes Labour won the

2024 election, not by a claim, but as an acceptable default option to a Conservative government.

Pretty accurate. Well, on the same page, I've made that point many times myself. But that's largely

it for the agreements, except what he says, I'm being fair here. You know, I'm just going to be honest about, you know, trying to engage seriously with what he said.

But he says about putting more emphasis on a move towards prevention in healthcare,

although that would include the sort of all that war and social inequalities, Blair's evidently not interested in.

Now, Blair says partly because of the intellectual

wasteland of the Corbyn years, Labour had no properly thought through analysis of how the world

was changing and what that meant for policy. This gets things precisely the wrong way round.
