Hello, I'm Azimazar, and you're listening to the Exponential View podcast. This week I'm delighted to be speaking with Tony Blair.

Though he needs no introduction, I will nevertheless persist in giving you one.

In 1997, at the age of only 43 Tony Blair became

Britain's youngest prime minister since 1812. He won with the largest

landslide in history in an election that saw 71% of voters participate. It was a turnout that would not be

exceeded until the Brexit referendum of 2016. He won a further two elections and in the 10 years of his premiership his administration

oversaw a significant increase in government spending.

It passed amongst many pieces of legislation the Minimum Wage Act, the Human Rights Act, and the Freedom of Information Act.

He negotiated the Good Friday Agreement bringing long-lasting peace to Northern Ireland and led the

UK's efforts to remove dictatorial regimes, sometimes controversially in Sierra Leone, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Since leading office, he's founded the non-profit Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, with the goal to make globalization work for the many not the few.

Now key areas of the Institute include countering extremist ideology,

but it's actively working on issues of technology and regulation and it's this work and his work on effective governance that we'll be focusing on today.
