For better or for worse,

the franchise film provides much of the lifeblood

for theatrical horror releases.

But reboots, sequels, prequels, and reimaginations

are a tricky business.

You want to give the people what they want,

what they liked about the original

that encouraged them to come see the follow-up,

but you want to give them something more,

something a little bit different,

to give them the satisfaction of a new movie going experience.

It really is a fine tightrope to walk.

It's rare to come out and create a franchise.
