This is the Media BuzzMeter podcast, and I'm joined today by Tommy Laren, the co-host of Fox's The Weekend Show.

And I got to start with something serious, which is, as the world knows, a terrible tragedy was averted at the correspondent's dinner when the Secret Service caught a heavily armed government at the last security point with the president, the vice president, the speaker, 2,000 journalists and guests and members of Congress all in jeopardy.

And it's a few days later and the story seems to have faded.

Yeah, you know, it is incredible.

You're right about that.

I think there's so much going on that every day it's something new.

So that's partly because of the news cycle.

But, you know, I would hope that we're not just as a society accepting these things. I mean, this is the third

serious attempts on President Trump's life in the last three years. So, you know, although it seems

like he's become rather used to it, I don't think we can ever become used to it. And, you know,

part of it fading might be because, of course,

and thankfully he wasn't successful. So obviously, we're all very relieved about that. But you're

right about that. You know, there's so much going on. We've got a conflict with Iran. We've got

stuff happening domestically. We've got a ballroom that people are arguing about. But, you know,

it was a serious thing. And we cannot be playing games with this

president's security or the members of his administration because it's quite obvious. They are still

very much targets. And very traumatizing for those who are there. I've talked to many of them.

Now, you have President Trump and the White House blaming this attempted assassination on hateful rhetoric by Democrats and

some in the media. And they come back and say, what are you talking about? Donald Trump has a

history of inflammatory language. I'd like to see both sides tone it down, but also the idea of
