In 2020, when COVID-19 forced a shutdown of global and local economies,

no shortage of businesses were left unscathed,

including Dominic-Denegri monuments and mausoleums operating out of the Bronx, New York.

The family-run business returned to work after the New York State Monument Builders Association appealed the verdict

to stay home. Regardless, the damage had already been done. With COVID-related deaths climbing

in the entire industry at a standstill, demand for Dominique DeNegrius's services had risen exponentially

and has since continued to rise.

Now, the art of stone carving demands precision and is pretty tedious.

When 3M, a company specializing in technologies widely used by the funerary industry,

announced they would no longer be making the adhesive needed to attach to a stencil,

the kind compatible with the standard sandblaster, it caused even more problems for Dominic Denegrie. Still, they persevered and continued to operate despite
