Tom versus the JLA number 204 or why doesn't Morrison have Superman juggling elephants?

Welcome back for Justice League of America number 204, the July 1982 issue entitled The Cut of the Cards, written by Jerry Conway, penciled by Don Heck, inks by Romeo Tangal, Colors Carl Gafford,

letter, Ben Oda, editor Lenween, with a cover by Dick Giordano and George Perez.

No roll call this issue. The roll call will be back, though. All you roll call officinados,

we will have a few more. Don't you worry? Don't be crying on your iPod or Zoom or your Apple TV.

We'll get another one. We open with Superman at a charity circus. And he's juggling some pachyderms, or for those not familiar with the term, elephants.

And a fantastic couple of panels. I got gotta say, hex art looks really good in this

issue. I think Tangal did a fantastic job, inking it. We see Superman juggling elephants, amusing

kids. The kids don't look sick, but I imagine some of them probably are. This is something

Superman does. And then Superman brings out a giant tub of peanuts for the elephants.

And you get to see some nice hearts floating above the elephants.

Even elephants love Superman.

The children are going crazy.

But in the background, we see the Queen of Spades, a member of the Royal Flush gang.

And she has a plan up her sleeve.

If you remember the Royal Flush Gang or after she has a plan up her sleeve. If you remember the Royal Flush

Gang or after the Justice League for some reason, she disguises herself as Lois, and using her scepter,

as her sneaks up on Superman, starts putting the moves on him, lays him in a heavy lip lock,

and then taps him on the head with their scepter, knocking Superman out.

Superman goes flying through the tent into the carnival, knocking over a giant Ferris wheel,

but the best part of it is, as we see a scene of the crowd, we get this exchange amongst the crowd members.

Man number one, did you see that? Woman number two. He was screaming. Woman number three.
