Tom versus the JLA number 189 or can't wait to eat that musky I caught off Long Island.

Our roll call for this issue is Black Canary, Firestorm, Green Lantern, Red Tornado,

Superman, and Wonder Woman. We open on the satellite with a rarity. League members training. You very

rarely see league members training, but we see Black Canary having Firestorm do something that looks

a little bit like a danger room situation. You got to remember the Justice League, you don't

often see them train. I mean, the very concept of the Justice League sort of precludes them from training.

You wouldn't be in the Justice League unless you were the best, the best of the best, joined the Justice League.

So there was never much of a reason to have them train.

But since they've introduced younger characters such as Firestorm,

there now becomes a reason for some training exercises.

And Firestorm cheats. He uses his powers to, you know, transform the rings he goes through into intangible so he can go through them.

And Black Canary gives him a hard time and, you know, rags on him a little bit until he decides to not cheat and go through the course.

We have a nice little character moment as Black Canary's training Firestorm.

We then cut to Long Island where a young boy is taking a fishing rod.

His father gave him for his birthday and they snuck out of the house to get some of that delicious delicious long island fish except he catches a little more than he bargains for some something that looks like a giant leech pulls out of the water and saps him with some sort of laser and that protrudes out of one end.

I imagine this is what most fish would be like if you caught them off a long island.

Probably mostly giant leeches and mostly capable of knocking out with an energy beam.

We see back at the young boy's house, the father is very upset.
