Tom versus the Justice League number 170 or Bruce Wayne loves to layer.

Welcome back for Justice League of America number 170, the September 1979 issue called While a World Lies Burning, with a cover by the glorious Dix, Dylan and Girodano.

Love the cover, even though it has virtually nothing to do with the story,

because it features Batman wearing a spacesuit on some sort of space motorcycle.

For the roll call, we got Batman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman,

Red Tornado, Green Lantern, and guest hero Ultra. I noticed they trapped the Ultimate Warrior tag

that had been on Ultra's last roll call appearance. Good. Even though it did make me laugh, I don't know.

I never heard him refer to as the ultimate warrior. So that seems

a bit prescient. I wonder if DC Comics ever got pissed about the ultimate warrior being around.

So we jump right back in the story we were left from the last issue. The Earth's oxygen levels

increasing dangerously. Batman on the satellite freaking out. Batman using the word dilettant to refer to the

fact that he is not a real scientist. He's practical. He's a practical scientist. He can probably make a

volcano for a science experiment or he can explain how magnets work. But he's no, uh, Ray Palmer. He's not going to

fix these energy, these oxygen levels that are out of control. But he admits that he's no, uh, Ray Palmer. He's not going to fix these energy, these oxygen levels

that are out of control. But he admits he can't just make the problem go away by wishing.

So he puts all the info into the Justice League computer, probably the Darlu, the alien that's
