Welcome back to the Flash number 300, the August 1981 cover featuring a wrap-around cover

penciled by Carmen Infantino, inked by Dick Giordano with the issue being edited by Len Ween.

It is the 300th issue of The Flash, the 25th anniversary

issue of Barry Allen becoming the Flash. It's a 48 page, no ads, double-size-spectacular,

sort of recap of everything that has happened to the Flash, everything you need to know.

And they cut out some stuff that I think is rather important, but we'll get to that later. But a great jumping on point if you wanted to start reading

The Flash in 1981, or if you're listening to this podcast for the first time, you're going to hear

just about everything that happens to him. Well, let's get directly to the story. It is entitled

1981, A Flash Odyssey, written by Carrie Bates, illustrated by Carmine Infantino

and Bob Smith, lettered by John Costanza, colored by Carl Gafford.

And the inside covers, I need to mention, feature some great commentary and art from Fred

Hembeck, who, when people ask me if they can do the version of Tom versus the

Flash, but, you know, their version of whoever they are, Blank versus whatever, Captain America,

or however it goes. And they ask, they go, okay, do that. I always want to tell them. I kind of stole

the idea from Fred Hembeck anyway. So go ask him, though he's much more talented.

So if you remember from the end of last issue, there was a strange medical hospital with a man

completely wrapped up in a body cast by the name of Barry Allen, and Barry hadn't shown up to work.

How did he end up there? What's going on? Well, we cut back to this same hospital,

driving storm outside, rain, thunder,

lightning, everywhere, and a couple of doctors walking through the halls. One in the standard white,
