Tom versus Flash number 294 or the gorilla in the cubicle next to me always comes in on the weekends.

0:08.8

Welcome back for the Flash number 294, the February 1981 issue feature cover pencil by Don Hack, inked by Dick Chirodano, with the entire issue being edited by Len Ween.

0:18.5

Our first story in this issue is The Fiend of the World For God,

0:21.7

written by Carrie Bates, art by Don Heck, colored by Gene DeAngelo, lettered by John Costanza.

0:27.4

The first thing I have to say is Don Heck does not draw a great gorilla. That's right. It's

0:31.4

the return of Gorilla City, the return of Grodd. We get to see Solvary again. It's extremely

0:35.3

exciting. But first we begin, East 51st Street, New York City, close to the United Nations building. It's a couple blocks where, and there's a rather interesting looking building, right in the middle of downtown New York. Got a giant ax on it. It's yellow. The building's next to it don't look quite as cool. It gets a lot of attention from people. It's got guards outside of it. People don't really know what's going inside there. We, the reader, lucky, of course. We get to see exactly what's going on inside. We cut in right inside. And there is probably one of the greatest panels of all times, because it is talking, intelligent guerrillas, doing all sort of manner of things. And we'll get to why they're there in just a second. We got a couple playing cards, arguing about like a royal flush.

1:15.6

We got a couple watching Gilligan's Island complaining about the fact that if the professor's

1:19.8

so smart, why can he get him off the island?

1:21.6

And in the background, we got two playing ping pong.

1:24.5

Just intelligent guerrillas just hanging out, watching TV, enjoying leisure time.

1:29.4

This could be a problem. And it is a problem. But where did these apes come from?

1:34.4

Are guerrillas apes? I'm going to screw up the aping gorillas thing and somebody that's going to get mad.

1:39.6

Some gorilla's going to get angry and right in it. I'm sorry, gorilla. Where do these gorillas come from?

1:44.1

They come from Gorilla City, a city of super intelligent guerrillas located in Africa that had been

1:49.9

hidden from human eyes for centuries. Nobody really knew where they were that they existed.

1:56.3

Well, people knew Grodd existed as he ran for governor, which got him some media attention.

2:03.8

The flash is one human who knows exactly where a guerrilla city is.

2:07.8

So we cut all the way to Africa where we see the futuristic, the beautiful guerrilla city

2:12.6

exposed, and we see a meeting of Solivar, who's in charge of Gorilla's scene.

2:18.0

We know he's in charge, but he wears a rather nice cape, which is quite cool for Gorilla.

2:22.0

Talking to a bunch of other guerrillas explaining sort of the history of what's gone on.
