John versus the Flash number 131, or there's nothing more fun at a barbecue than a dude trying to prove his athletic prowess.

Welcome back for the Flash number 131, the September 1962 issue entitled Captives of the Cosmic Ray, written by John Broome, penciled by Carmen Infantino, inked by Joe Giella, and edited by Julie Schwartz featuring a cover pencil by Carmen Infantino and inked by Joe Giella. That's all right. You've got a team-up issue. Green Lantern's in this issue, and not the Golden Age Green Lantern, who we've seen previously, you know, in a flashback by Jay Garik, but Hal Jordan, Green Lantern. So we see a little bit of continuity starting to sneak into this book. We opened California. If you remember last issue, Barry Allen couldn't go out about his friend in Longgame Man because he was going on vacation to California. And while he was on this vacation, he met Hal Jordan. they had an adventure together. They found each other's

secret identity. You can read that actually in issue number 13 of the Green Lantern, Duel of the

superheroes. But we won't get into that here. So at this point, they're friends. They know each other

are superheroes. They know what's going on. Just like any two dudes do, when you're

on vacation with your ladies, you go sit in a park bench. Two guys sitting on a park bench sharing

feelings. That's what the DC universe is all about. Not only they're sharing feelings, but Barry is

feeding some nearby pigeons from a bag of bread. What a sad, sad story.

They're talking about their ladies. They're talking about how no one knows who they are.

Well, Pieface, the unfortunately named Pieface, knows who Green Lantern is, and Kid Flash knows who the

flashes, but really it's pretty secret, and that's a bond that they share.

Well, they can't be sitting around talking about their bonding all day.

They got to hit up at a local department store to buy some arrows.

Interesting.

Why would they need arrows?

Because they're having some sort of athletic competition, but we'll get to that in a second.

While they're into the department store, Barry and Hall are walking around when they see a couple

life-size cutouts of themselves as their super alter egos,

advertising a children's charity.

Both be nice guys, they give some money,

they have a quiet chuckle about the fact that,

hey, that's us over there. They buy the arrows, and they head on over to the Ferris Mansion,
