Tom versus the Flash number 129 or I hope I can get into the Cardigan Gang.

Welcome back to the Flash number 129, the June 162 issue entitled Double Danger on Earth, written by Gardner Fox,

That's right.

It's a golden age flash, silver age flash, Earth 1, Earth 2, before they named them Earth 1 and Earth 2 crossover.

So Gardner Fox is writing it, and not to slam Gardner Fox, but reading this really makes me miss the John Broome-style lunacy of the stories.

It's a little bit of a dry story.

There isn't too many crazy things going on, really.

But there's a few.

There's a few that I like, so I'll make sure to mention that.

We open.

Watching a comet plunge into the sun in March, 1962. Scientists observing it, notice a giant atomic reaction happening inside of the sun shooting off a terrible radiation towards the earth,

a radiation that will kill all life on Earth.

Then you might be wondering, this is what happens? Does Barry Allen save the day?

How about Hell Jordan? Is he swooping? No, you see, because this happens on a parallel Earth,

the Earth that we will come to know as Earth 2. We see Jay Garrick reading the paper, drinking a cup

of coffee wearing his tie. He's very businesslike. I like that Jay Garrick talking to his wife,

Joan, about how horrible this radiation will be and how it's going to destroy all life on Earth.

Of course, we get a quick flashback to Jay getting his powers through hard water fumes. That's right.

Hard water will do that to you.

Jay also takes time to give us sort of a life lesson about atomic bombs as he draws an analogy between this radiation explosion on the sun and our own nuclear testing, saying that an atom
