Our Aquaman story is Aqualads Deep Six Chick, not the only time we're going to hear a chick today, written by Bob Haney with art by Nick Hardy.

Yes, this story features a tremendous amount of Bob Haney teenage talk, but it does have a core of a great comic book story.

It is about Aqualad and Aquaman's relationship, and Aqualad's just not some mindless extension of Aquaman.

He's got his own feelings, and it's time we knew them.

And Bob, he does a good job getting it across, but we begin not with the tension and a mentor-mente

relationship, but no, a beautiful, serene ocean scene.

Fish gently swimming about some rocks, wandering around, waiting to be told

what to do by Aquaman. This scene is broken, though, with the thundering crash of an airplane,

a jetliner crashing into the ocean near these fish. This is a much darker story. There were

no whales for this jetliner to land on this time. No,

this jet crashed directly into the sea, just so happens that nearby Aquaman and Aquilad

are patrolling. They see exactly what's going on. Aquaman recognizing people are trapped inside

the plane. The regular escape hatch is jammed. He gets some sawfish to cut a new one into the side.

And these people are all tremendously overrated. It was a flight from Green Bay.

They all float up to the surface where Aquaman is saying that they can make it to the surface with the air trapped in their lungs.

They get to the surface. They're kind of freaking out. But Aquaman Aqualette have a plan.

Aquilat has them all joint hands and they're singing a song,

Oh, life on the sea can be happy and free and they're all smiling, laughing. People from Wisconsin have a great disposition.
