Time's week with Jimmy Olson number three, or why exactly does Clark Kent carry a knife?

Hi, everyone. I'm back. I didn't quit events of both a large nature and personal nature.

It kept me from doing the show the last couple days. But I'm back now, and we're going to talk about some Jimmy Olson.

And the story we're covering today is

Jimmy Olson's Speed Demon, originally printed in Superman's spell Jimmy Olson number 15,

written by Otto Binder, penciled by Kurt Swan, inked by Ray Burnley, with the issue being,

a story being edited by Mort Wisinger. Now, before we get in this story, I do want to point out that I really like

Jimmy Olson's stories as I think they reflect a certain truth.

Now, often people criticize these sort of Silver Age Avengers for being just completely

devoid from reality, as opposed to, let's say, like a Spider-Man comic.

Again, about a lowly photographer at a newspaper

who has sort of a rough life.

And I think they both reflect reality.

Spider-Man reflects a certain reality,

and Jimmy Olson reflects a certain reality.

Spider-Man reflects, I think, the way that we ourselves see our role in our own lives

is sort of the downtrodden hero.

We like to imagine that, the sort of melodrama of our lives.

But I think Jimmy Olson represents a much sadder, more mundane reality, which is just the fact that you could be

friends with Superman and your life is still going to be filled with the sort of trivial mundane

shit that your life had before.

You know, Superman will just sort of flow into your life.
