The program was originally broadcast in 1983 and the presenter was Roy Plumley. This week our castaway is a painter. He's also an expert restorer of pictures and something of an authority on the technique of painters of the past.

It's Tom Keating. Tom, could you adapt yourself to loneliness?

Of course. I've lived and worked alone for many years. Is music important in your life? Very important, yes. Do you play an instrument, have you studied? A mouth organ actually.

You did? I'm not used to. You haven't kept up. I can't, my lungs are into there. Do you sing?

Yes, all the time.

Have whoever sung in public?

Yes, we've been drunk.

Once or twice.

But never on a concert...

Well, on a stage, it was a matter,ama too and so on once or twice. Do you play discs while you're

painting and the radio yes more or less all the time? Did you find it difficult to make a list of

just eight which is all you're going to take your life?

Well, it's impossible isn't it you're naughty. Of course it's impossible, but you just grab eight or whatever.

What's the first one you got on that pilot?

I got Marla, I came to Marla many years ago,

out of the blue, I think he's a composer who was given by a god of something a little gift and it's obvious in parts of the music.

I paint mostly landscape to Marla and seascape.

I find that different musicians, different music

creates the mood to help work.

Is this one of the symphonies?
