One day in mid-January, 2017, a few months after Tom disappeared.

A worker for an electric company was making his way down Lake Marvin Road,

a lonely farm to market road northeast of Canadian.

The worker spied something unusual, a black and red backpack,

sitting in an upright position, four to five feet from the road

behind a barbed wire fence, and under a clump of hackberry trees.

The man didn't think much about it at the time,

but a couple of weeks later, after hearing a news report about Tom,

he drove back out to Lake Marvin Road, and he found the bag.
